The States of New Jersey, New York, and Delaware share common airsheds. Dirty air transported into the area and emission sources in and across these states impact one another. Each state benefits from information on the quality of the air in another state. This information is used in the evaluation of current environmental conditions and trends, health tracking, and in coordinating homeland security efforts. At present, only a limited amount of air monitoring information is easily available. The states intend to improve data sharing, data use, and data quality across the region. They will use the Exchange Network to exchange AQS XML data with U.S. EPA and among the partner states. The end result will be a virtual, customizable, regional air quality monitoring network using the infrastructure of the Exchange Network.
The following links are to implementation resources for the most recent version of the AQDE. This exchange reuses the XML schema developed for version 2.0 of the Air Quality System (AQS) data exchange.
The partners involved in the Air Quality Data Exchange have developed a Trading Partner Agreement (TPA) template to define the terms of their data exchange. TPAs are documents formally adopted by two or more trading partners to express the responsibilities of each party, the legal standing (if any) of the proposed exchange, and the technical details necessary to initiate and conduct electronic information exchange. While TPAs are not a requirement for Network participation, many partners find them to be a helpful means of setting expectations and responsibilities between trading partners who wish to establish an ongoing business process involving the automated electronic exchange of information. The following TPAs have been executed by partners in the Air Quality Data Exchange:
