data exchange description

Network partners can use the Exchange Network to submit data to U.S. EPA's RCRAInfo system. RCRAInfo is EPA's national program management and inventory system about hazardous waste handlers.

You can find a great deal of additional information on the RCRAInfo exchange, including detailed submission instructions, on the RCRAInfo wiki page.

U.S. EPA has released a new version of the RCRAInfo database (version 5) to accommodate some modifications to the RCRA program. Final versions of the XML schema and other resources for this update are available below.

Version 5 is now available for test and production submissions for all RCRAInfo modules including:

• Handler
• Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement (CME)
• Permitting
• Corrective Action
• Financial Assurance
• GIS

Data Flow Implementation Guide – This guide provides a high-level overview of the data flow including advice about when to consider implementing the flow and a summary of planned improvements to the flow’s design and usability.

RCRAInfo conference calls

A group of states and representatives from U.S. EPA meets via conference call on the third Thursday of each month to discuss issues related to RCRAInfo and the data exchange. Version 5.1

Version 5.0 of the RCRAInfo exchange was modified in May 2010 to correct an error in the field length for the LandBasedUnitIndicator data element. The following links are to implementation resources for version 5.1--the most recent version. Version 5.1 is completely backward compatible with version 5.0 of the RCRAInfo Schema. The RCRAInfo documentation package has been received and reviewed by the NTG Conformance Committee. The Committee has deemed the schema and supporting flow documentation acceptable for use on the Exchange Network. Please note that version 5.0 was modified to version 5.1 in May 2010 to correct an error in the field length for the LandBasedUnitIndicator data element.
