Data Exchange Description
Partners can use the Exchange Network to submit data to or extract data from EPA’s RCRAInfo system, the national program management and inventory system for hazardous waste handlers. The EPA CDX test and production endpoints for RCRAInfo are available here.
EPA has established a national system for tracking hazardous waste shipments electronically. This system, known as “e-Manifest,” will modernize the nation’s cradle-to-grave hazardous waste tracking process while saving valuable time, resources, and dollars for industry and states. e-Manifest data is stored in the RCRAInfo system. The current version of the RCRAInfo data flow allows partners to access manifest data for their state.
RCRAInfo v5.13 Available in Production
Version 5.13 of the RCRAInfo data exchange is now available in the PRODUCTION environment as of January 12, 2024. Changes to version 5.13 focus on the Handler module and the new, optional fields for Additional Contacts. It also includes a Contact Preferred Language field. The schema is backwards compatible with v5.12 and translator states may choose to update to 5.13 or stay with 5.12 if they don’t need these additional fields. Subscribe to the RCRAInfo mailing list to stay up on the latest RCRAInfo news and information by logging into RCRAInfo and clicking “Newsletter Subscribe/Unsubscribe” under “Links”. You will receive information on calls convened by state and EPA representatives on the third Thursday of each month to discuss topics related to RCRAInfo and the data exchange.
You may also subscribe to the RCRAInfo Translator mailing list by logging into RCRAInfo and clicking “Newsletter Subscribe/Unsubscribe” under “Links”. This list is specifically for agencies that exchange data with RCRAInfo via the Exchange Network. You will receive information on calls convened by state and EPA representatives on the last Tuesday of each quarter to discuss topics related to the RCRAInfo data exchange.

The RCRAInfo schema and documentation have been approved for use on the Exchange Network. Implementation resources for the most recent version follow.
**Important Note: The previously released XML Schema and Data Exchange Template for v5.10 was updated in January 2021 with the following changes in the Episodic Event portion of the Handler module:
- the maximum length of the EpisodicEventType data element was decreased from 3 characters to 1
- the maximum length of the OtherProjectDescription data element was increased from 80 characters to 255
