ICIS-NPDES Version 4.1 Now Available

An upgrade to the ICIS-NPDES data flow is now available. This upgrade to version 4.1 involves three categories of changes:

  1. An option to either submit a facility’s location city code, or submit a facility location’s city name with a county code;
  2. The addition of new optional data to the existing Storm Water Industrial Permit component web service; and
  3. A new “Storm Water Industrial Annual Report” web service that will allow EPA’s new electronic notice of intent tool “NeT” to populate a newly created Federal Storm Water Multi-Sector report record.

Partners who are not planning to use these new optional tags and web service can continue to submit all of their NPDES data the same way they have done in the past.

Call for Members - E-Enterprise for the Environment Architecture and Services IPT

State and Federal environmental agencies are collaborating on an initiative called E-Enterprise for the Environment (E-Enterprise) that will recast the business model of environmental protection in the United States. E-Enterprise will improve environmental outcomes and dramatically enhance service to the regulated community and the public by maximizing the use of advanced monitoring and information technologies, optimizing operations, and increasing transparency.
 
The E-Enterprise Leadership Council (EELC) is launching an effort to develop a technical architecture for E-Enterprise that will ensure interoperability and reduce redundancies between co-regulator data systems, accommodate single sign-on for the regulated community, and design portals for reporting and accessing environmental information. In close cooperation with the EELC, the Exchange Network Leadership Council (ENLC) is looking for volunteers to serve on the E-Enterprise Architecture and Services Integrated Project Team (IPT). Co-Chaired by EPA’s Robin Gonzalez and New Mexico Environment Department’s Mary Montoya, the IPT will provide input into the fundamental technical specifications for E-Enterprise, including:
  • E-Enterprise Solutions Architecture
  • Concept of Operations for Federated Identity Management
  • Concept of Operations for the E-Enterprise Portal, and
  • E-Enterprise Services Portfolio and Implementation Strategy
The ENLC aims to assemble a diverse group that includes members with skills in fields such as business process management, environmental program management, enterprise architecture, and Information Technology security. The Draft Charter, includes additional information about the IPT’s proposed work, schedule, and operations.

New BEACHES Notification Data Flow Address Available - CDXweb Use Ends July 18, 2014

On June 4, 2014, a new BEACHES flow address for submitting Beach Program notification data to PRAWN became available (NGNProd2.0) for both Test and Production. This new BEACHES address will operate along with the current address (CDXProd2.0) until July 18, 2014, at which time the CDXProd2.0 address will be decommissioned, along with the ability for Beach Program data submitters to use the CDXweb to submit either eBeaches monitoring data to WQX/STORET or BEACHES notification data to PRAWN. Beginning July 18, all Beaches notification and monitoring data will need to be either submitted manually through the Exchange Network Services Center (ENSC) or through a State, Territorial, or Tribal node.
